Rosary Inspired Necklace

This trendy green and brown rosary inspired necklace is the perfect accent to your favorite outfit–make it for yourself or give it as a gift!




Supplies:

  • 13 brown 8mm faceted bicone glass beads
  • 15 green 8mm faceted bicone glass beads
  • 3 4mm round silver filigree beads
  • 50” length of 24-gauge silver wire
  • 3 silver head pins
  • silver torpedo clasp
  • chain nose pliers
  • round nose pliers
  • flat nose pliers
  • wire nipper
  • ruler

Instructions:

  1. Cut the wire into 2” lengths. Take one piece of wire and make a wrapped loop (see below for instructions) on one end, attaching the clasp. String a brown bead onto the wire and make a wrapped loop at the other end.
  2. Attach another piece of wire to the previous link with a wrapped loop. Add a green bead to this piece of wire and make a wrapped loop at the other end. Repeat, alternating with six brown and six green beads. Repeat for the other side of the necklace, attaching the other piece of the torpedo clasp at the beginning of the second side. Do not connect the sides yet.
  3. String one filigree bead and one green bead onto each head pin, then make a wrapped loop at the end of each pin. Make a wrapped loop on one 2” length of wire and attach it to the last green bead on each end of the sides from steps 1 and 2. String a brown bead and attach the three head pins with a wrapped loop.

Making a Wrapped Loop:

Step.1

Grasp the wire 1” from one end with flat nose pliers. Bend back at a right angle, then use round nose pliers to grasp the wire 1/4” from the bend. Turn the pliers to form a loop-–the wire ends should be parallel.

Step.2

Hold the loop with flat nose pliers–be sure the base of the loop is visible. Wrap the wire end 3-4 times in a tight coil below the loop. Trim the excess wire.
