Birthday Joy

Citrus colors and floral embellishments make this sweet birthday card perfect for summer! Susan created eye-catching contrast on the card with a bright yellow, lime and pink color scheme paired with rich black word fragments and black ink. She then boosted the interest on this stylish card by creating a unique matchbook closure.

Supplies:

• Cardmaker’s™ Citrus Creative Pack: Yellow letters, lime mesh, and pink linen papers plus tag
• Citrus Embellish-abilities™: Pink silk flower, pink big brad, lime green button, pink mini brad, pink sheer ribbon
• Cardmaker’s™ Birthday Card Quotes
• Cardmaker’s™ Word Fragments for Cards
• black ink pad
• 3/4" circle punch
• Glue Dots™
• glue stick

Instructions:
For the Card Front:

1. With the fold at the top, cut the card to a 5" square. Trim 1/2" off the bottom edge of the card front, then cover the remaining card front with yellow letters paper; ink the edges black.
2. Cut out the large lime tag and ink the edges. Fold a 1" length of pink sheer ribbon in half and secure the loose ends behind the top of the tag with a pink mini brad. Glue the tag at an angle over the left half of the card front. Cut out the “birthday”, “cake”, “gift” and “delight” word fragments and glue them at varying angles over the tag.
3. Use a Glue Dot™ to secure a small pink silk flower overlapping the bottom right corner of the tag. Run a thin length of pink linen paper through the holes on one small lime button (7/16" round) and use a Glue Dot™ to add the button to the center of the silk flower.

For the Card Inside:

1. Fold 3/4" of the bottom edge of the card inside up so it overlaps the bottom edge of the card front. Cover the flap with lime mesh paper and ink the edges. Mat the top edge of the flap on pink linen paper, trim the mat to 1/16" and ink the edges.
2. Cover the inside of the card with pink linen paper and ink the edges. Crop the quote to a small rectangle. Mat the quote on pink linen paper, trim the mat to 1/16" and ink the edges. Mat again on yellow letters paper, trim the mat to 1/4" and ink the edges. Glue the matted quote centered on the inside of the card.
3. Add one pink big brad centered on the flap at the bottom of the card, going through both the flap and the back of the card. Punch a 3/4" circle of yellow letters paper, ink the edges and glue over the top of the big brad. Glue the “joy” word fragment across the brad. To close the card, fold the card front down and tuck the bottom edge into the top edge of the flap.
