Flowers of Love Journal

romantic girlfriend journal

The Romantic Girl loves flowers, love notes and sentimental movies. What will she do with a hand-decorated journal like this one? She can use it for addresses and phone numbers, recipes, a daily journal or as a sketchbook. Designer Paris Dukes, a self-described Romantic Girl and the creative force behind the Girlfriend Gifts line of journal-decorating kits, shares this journal idea.

Instructions

  1. Locate where the spiral binding comes together on your journal. On some journals this will be between the back cover and the pages; on others it will be between the front and back covers. Gently separate the binding and remove the cover.
  2. Cut out the background paper from the kit. Use a glue stick to coat the front of the cover. Be sure to apply glue to each side, especially along the binding holes.
  3. Place the light lavender paper over the journal cover and press down, starting in the center and moving outward. Turn the cover over and trim any excess paper from the edges.
  4. From the back of the journal cover, use a 1/44” hole punch to make holes in the cover paper. Layer torn cream and dark purple papers on the journal cover as shown. Replace the cover to the journal.
  5. Decorate cream tags with alphabet tiles spelling “love”; add to the journal cover. Embellish the cover with fibers, a lavender tag and ribbon rose. Attach the fibers by wrapping them around the journal cover and tying in the front. Secure the knot to the cover with a touch of glue.
