Instructions:
- Cut a 4”x10” piece of gold plaid paper. Add glue and center the gold plaid paper over the spine of the composition notebook, then press down around the front and back surfaces of the book and trim the excess paper even with the top and bottom edges. Cut two 5/8”x10” strips of the dark background from the leaf border paper and glue one each to the front and back surfaces of the notebook, about 1 1/2” from the spine. Trim the excess paper even with the top and bottom edges of the notebook. Use the gold leaves paper to cover the rest of the front and back surfaces of the notebook, then use an X-acto® knife to trim the excess paper even with the edges of the book. Ink the edges of the notebook with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
- Tear out two portions of the border from the leaf border paper. Cut out the sunflower artwork and mat on gold textured paper, then trim the mat to 1/8” and ink the edges. Mat again on the dark background portion from the leaf border paper, trimming the mat to 1/8”. Stamp a leaf shape onto gold textured paper, then tear and ink the edges. Cut out the “gratitude” definition, then tear and ink the edges. Arrange and glue all these elements to the front of the notebook, as shown.
- Place the small dark brown leaf tag fabric sticker at an angle at the top of the dark paper strip, then punch a 1/8” hole and add one copper brad to the top of the tag. Add the “blessing” fabric sticker at an angle under the tag.
- Use alphabet stamps to stamp the words “my” and “journal” onto the blank fragments stickers. Mat the stickers on gold textured paper, then trim the mats to 1/16” and ink the edges. Mat again on the dark background portion from the leaf border paper, trimming the mats to 1/16”. Place the matted “journal” sticker at an angle on the front of the notebook, as shown, then punch a 1/8” hole and add one copper brad to each end to secure it in place. Fold the left end of the matted “my” sticker under, then glue at an angle over the dark paper strip.
- Starting on the back surface of the notebook, lay a length of “Love much, Live long, Laugh often” twill horizontally around the spine and across the surface of the binder. Place the left end of the twill length flush with the left edge of the dark paper strip on the back of the notebook. Punch a 1/8” hole and add one copper brad to the end of the twill length to secure it in place. Wrap the twill around the spine of the notebook and across the front surface. Punch holes and add copper brads between each phrase on the twill to secure it in place. Trim the right end of the twill even wth the edge of the notebook.
- Add one copper heart clip to the center of the twill length. Cut a 2 1/2” length of brown grosgrain ribbon, trimming the tails at an angle. Wrap the ribbon length around the right side of the heart clip, then use Glue Dots™ to secure the tails to the surface of the notebook, pointing downward. Cut an 8” length of brown grosgrain ribbon and tie it into a shoestring bow. Use a Glue Dot™ to attach the bow in the top right corner of the sunflower artwork.
