Jane and Paul

Arlene cut a triangle from a 12”x12” sheet of white vellum, using a ruler to draw a blue line around the three sides of the triangle, then placed the vellum triangle on top of the collaged background paper for a dimensional effect.

She used the Diamond Folds template to create the folded border on the mat: simply place the template on top of the pastel blue vellum, trace the chevron shapes with a pencil. Remove the template, then use an X-acto® knife and a ruler to cut the traced lines. Fold every other cut shape on the traced lines. Arlene added iridescent blue “shaved ice” to decorate the folds.

After cutting her diamond folds, Arlene cut the border into a strip, then layered it onto her metallic silver and blue vellum photo mat. “I attached the vellum diamond fold border to the silver portion of the mat by hiding the glue underneath the bow and under the areas covered with shaved ice,” Arlene says.
